Transition to Independent Operations Complete
2009, the transition
By March 2009, the transition to independence was completed: OCLC transferred DCMIs assets, infrastructure, and support responsibilities to the new DCMI organizationoclc.org. These transfers, finalized in early 2009, ensured DCMI could sustainably develop and maintain Dublin Core standards as a self-governed body. From this point, DCMI functioned as a fully independent, international organization devoted to metadata standards (with OCLC remaining involved only through the Oversight Committee).
