The first Dublin Core workshop, held in Dublin, Ohio (March 1–3, 1995), brought together 52 librarians, technologists and researchers to define a core set of metadata semantics for web resources. The term “Dublin Core” was coined for the resulting metadata element set oclc.orgdlib.org. The initial workshop report introduced a set of 13 elements as a foundation for resource descriptiondublincore.org.
